Welcome to Quarry Hill's Blog!

Quarry Hill Creative Center in Rochester, VT, founded 1946 by Barbara and Irving Fiske, is Vermont's oldest alternative community and at one time was probably also its largest. In the 60s -80s, as many as 90 people lived here.
It was and is visited each year, often in summer (but in every season, really) by visitors from all over the world.
We welcome interesting and creative people who are peaceful, bring no weapons, don't believe in hitting children or killing animals, and enjoy the beauty of Vermont and of themselves.

Most of us do not adhere to any particular dogma or religion, though many do find Eastern philosophy closest to our own thought (some of us are also members of the Quakers/Society of Friends).
We value the individual, particularly people who are energetic and have a sense of humor.
Visitors are welcome-- and prospective residents, too. There are some places for rent, others for sale. If interested, get in touch!
And, please follow the Blog and comment whenever you like!

"The symbol is the enemy of the reality, and the reality is ever one's true guide, true friend, true companion, and true self." Irving Fiske, 1908-1990

Please check out Insight Timer. It has thousands of meditation teachers and musicians..,
Many free meditations and lots of beautiful music as well. It's FREE!
One can pay for premium version to add some features such as free courses for about five dollars a month
It outstrips Headspace  and other meditation apps.  All i have looked at cost  $14 per month or so.
All of the meditations on Insight Timer are free. Of course, you will have to decide which kind of meditation which meditator or meditation teacher you are interested in. There is a huge range of Points of view and meditation techniques here.
I have recently Opened a discussion group on the popular meditation teacher &  guide through many wonderful meditations, Kenneth Soares. A young Norwegian man  with  a  family, he has an unfeelingly positive point of view about the human psyche and the human spirit.
Another meditation teacher I like Is Christian Thomas. He has some of the most restful and peaceful sleep meditations I have ever heard. Kenneth's  are also Extremely helpful, and have gotten me through many nights of insomnia.
Please look for the Kenneth Soares Discussion group On insight timer. When you open an account, go to your profile, then to groups and run a search for "Kenneth Soares."
But you may wish to listen to some of cannabis guided meditations  or affirmations first.
This is a great thing, and of course you must use it in your own way. Wishing everybody a wonderful autumn and a peaceful winter.
