Welcome to Quarry Hill's Blog!

Quarry Hill Creative Center in Rochester, VT, founded 1946 by Barbara and Irving Fiske, is Vermont's oldest alternative community and at one time was probably also its largest. In the 60s -80s, as many as 90 people lived here.
It was and is visited each year, often in summer (but in every season, really) by visitors from all over the world.
We welcome interesting and creative people who are peaceful, bring no weapons, don't believe in hitting children or killing animals, and enjoy the beauty of Vermont and of themselves.

Most of us do not adhere to any particular dogma or religion, though many do find Eastern philosophy closest to our own thought (some of us are also members of the Quakers/Society of Friends).
We value the individual, particularly people who are energetic and have a sense of humor.
Visitors are welcome-- and prospective residents, too. There are some places for rent, others for sale. If interested, get in touch!
And, please follow the Blog and comment whenever you like!

"The symbol is the enemy of the reality, and the reality is ever one's true guide, true friend, true companion, and true self." Irving Fiske, 1908-1990

Hugh Laurie not necessarily leaving HOUSE

September 6th, 2011 10:39 AM Celebrities: Hugh Laurie House Hugh Laurie denies House is ending British actor Hugh Laurie has spoken out against those who have claimed that the eighth season of House is set to be the last. Hugh revealed that nothing had been set in stone, even though he is set to leave the hit FOX show to focus on his music aspirations. Laurie explained, "Nobody has pounded the table and said, 'dammit, this is the last, and I'll see you all in court! I have a feeling that we'll all know come February or so, whether this is something that we should be going on with or not.” Hugh admitted that the final decision is down to the network. He added, “The network and the studio are doing their own sums all the time and they may say, 'Do you mind making it in a photo booth now?,' because dramas are expensive and times are hard and belts are tight." The eighth, and potentially final season, of House premieres on October 3. From http://www.fansshare.com/news/hugh-laurie-denies-house-is-ending/

  1. Not everyone will be interested in this, but as many are, I'm a big House MD/Hugh Laurie fan. I enjoy this show (though my favorite of all time was The West Wing, of course).
Well, who knows. I think it is the last season but ...
