If you'd like to visit Quarry Hill--

If you would like to spend some time here this year, visiting, skiing perhaps)if you come now the skiing's great!)-- or in the summer, when Quarry Hill is beautiful and sunlit with flowers all around and the organic garden (shared, not a giant proposition) bearing zuchini and tomatoes-- and the nearby river ready for a swim-- and the mountains ready to be climbed-- let us know, please!
We have several houses built in the 70s and 80s for rent; rooms in the common house, one with a king-size bed and a large and comfortable feel; and houses for sale by the previous owners with long-term leases for the land (through the family corporation); also the leases are renewable, so that it can be a permanent place to live.
We're eager to meet new people and have them help us continue, build and change this way of life that has been unique in the world of communities and nothing like the conventional world-- though it is a lot more quiet here today than in the Sixties and Seventies. Once a year we have a one week festival throughout "Lughnasa" (Aug. 3 or so)-- which started out as a birthday party for my daughter, Joya, and now is a hip destination for a special party, with camping, costumes, dancing, and pancake breakfasts for those who dance all night. If you plan to come, let us know and please bring money for food, a sleeping bag and a tent if you can, no pets if possible, and no drugs, illegal objects or substances, or guns.
We look forward to seeing you! Visit us-- for a free night or two-- and then for very low charges or a work exchange. Our rents are unbelievably low, and our ambiance is peaceful, non-intrusive, and accepting of the individual human spirit.
Our two iron-clad rules: No hitting the kids (or yelling at them), and no killing animals or fishing on the place. We used to have a rule "no dishes in the sink," my father's special point of loathing. This is still in effect in the common building (the Farmhouse), and most people like to try to keep their sinks clean,but it's not a rule in people's personal dwellings.
Come visit! Vermont is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Who knows-- you, like many others, may end up staying for years. Or for just a short time. Some still visit from all over the world each year.
